“I love Home of Yoga because of the feeling of being a real Yoga community as much as a school. I teach Yin/Yang, mindful, hatha yoga where the intention is to stay completely present in the body and breath, observing & exploring without judgement.
I like music and laughter in my class & the feeling of friends who do this together every week. The greatest thing I keep from my teacher Sam Weinstein is to create each class spontaneously from the people, the feeling, the weather and whatever else is in that moment. No rules, no goals, simply playing in and riding the energy of this moment and whatever arises.”
Kirstie had been a Home of Yoga student since 2001 and was invited by Sam Weinstein into the HOY teacher mentorship program assisting in classes/retreats.
Kirstie also took an interest in the Breath work section of our retreats with Sam and was further mentored by Lena Kristina Tuulse a pioneer of Liberation Breathing in Europe who regularly partnered with us at our HOY retreats.
As well as being mentored by Sam Weinstein Kirstie has trained in Yoga Synergy with Simon Borg-Olivier having attended two of his teacher trainings. Kirstie works as Registered Nurse, is a trained Shiatsu therapist and a Tango Artiste and bring all these skills to her Spinal Flow classes every Thursday at 5.30pm
Nadia is a Senior Yoga Teacher of the Home of Yoga. An eternal & dedicated student of yoga, Nadia attended Sam Weinstein Transformational Yoga classes for 30 yrs.
Nadia’s learning’s in the ashrams of India in her early 20's germinated the seed of her love of yoga and this quality and the spiritual heart of yoga is deeply felt and experienced in all her classes.
Currently Nadia shares in our Saturday 8am teacher rotation. Nadia's classes are strong, detailed, at times challenging and always inspiring.
Sam Weinstein (1956-2018) is the Founding teacher of the Home of Yoga. His Lineage was Pujari (Ed) Keays & B.K.S Iyengar.
Sam had an inexhaustible love of teaching yoga and the community that grew with it. He taught 12-20 classes a week for 33 years in Aust. & was teaching in the USA before this. His classes were fun & an adventure.
Sam passes his love of yoga & community to his teacher/students & we look forward to taking the spirit of the HOY forward into its 40th year (2025).
The HOY teaching team keep his teaching's alive each in their own unique ways. All were mentored by Sam over extended time period. Each add their own interests & other trainings to be the wonderful teachers they are today.

" I was born in Sudan, in North Africa, with Egyptian ancestry. I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years now. For the most part, I had been practicing general Hatha yoga and the other various styles of Indian yoga. In 2018, I travelled to Jamaica to attend Kemetic Yoga Teacher Training where I became a certified instructor of the YogaSkills Method.
‘Kemet’ was the original name of Ancient Egypt. Kemetic Yoga is a system of health and well-being rediscovered and resurrected from Ancient Egypt in the mid-70’s by Dr Asar Hapi and my teacher, Master Yirser Ra Hotep.
It is a practice for physical, mental and spiritual development. A slower, methodical, meditative practice combining deep controlled breathing and flowing movements that parallel the body’s natural anatomy. I am also available for private sessions."
