"I am a registered Counsellor (ACA) and a process-orientated Creative Arts Therapist (B. Couns, UNDA, GradDipArtTherapy, MU) working in the evidence-based psychotherapeutic field of Creative Expression. My approach firstly is to provide a welcoming, safe, open, non-judgmental, creative space for participants to explore and view conscious and unconscious thoughts, feelings and beliefs. My belief is that image making within a therapeutic framework has tremendous potential for communication beyond words and for enhancing a sense of wellbeing.
My work is also based on an integrative approach combining the practice of Creative Arts/Expression and Mindfulness. I introduce art making in the present by using a multimodal approach of art mediums including drawing, painting, collage, clay work, expressive writing and music to develop a more cohesive sense of self, bringing together an increase of self-awareness and acceptance. It gives us permission to become a non-judgmental observer of ourselves and our own environments...I look forward to sharing love of art with you and exploring creative expression in the heart place space."
Through our collaboration with Envisage Creative Arts Therapies we can also come out to your organisation or community. Email Sharon to Enquire.
"Short film presentation explaining the four core healing practices-- movement, sound, storytelling through image, and silence through contemplative and self-regulatory practices. This is an introduction to the implicit experiences found in expressive work and particularly expressive arts therapy that is used as a way to understand and repair the body's experience of trauma."
